Holliday Wish List 2009

Sun Nov 29, 2009, 1:31 PM
I first ‘heard’ about this from :icondreamweaverno1: and I must say I love the idea. That’s why I’m joining in, hoping that I might be able to grant a wish for someone else.

THE BASICS: write a Christmas/Holiday wish list. It can be any 10 wishes you'd like to have granted, no matter what they are. Possible or seemingly impossible. People look and grant the wishes if they can. It's not about "OMFG PRESENTS", it's about making someone else's holiday a little brighter by giving. Personally, I get more out of giving than receiving sometimes. It's just a good feeling to give.

STEP ONE

** Make a post in your journal. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

** If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. In this case, you can always just note someone on dA.

** Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, so that others can join in and participate to spread the holiday joy!

Surf this forum and browse the lists.

STEP TWO

** Surf around your friend list to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

** If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

** You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

NOW LET'S SEE IT!
1. My biggest wish is actually not one for myself. I got a friend :iconblazenwolfdemon: and she is a wonderful artist. She has improved heaps in the past years and she has a real talent. Not to mention that she’s one of the sweetest people I know.
The problem is that she’s been doubting herself lately, she doesn’t really talk about it, but I still notice it.
What I really wish for is for some more people to go look at her art and perhaps if you like what you see leave a comment or some constructive criticism. It would do her a world of good to see that I’m not just saying this because I’m her friend.
This is the only wish I really, really hope gets granted.

2. I absolutely LOVE plushies (well actually all stuffed animals/dolls etc…, but plushies even more so) Big, small, silly, weird … come up with them and I adore them. Any plushies, whether from a store or ‘home made’ would make me a very, very happy girl ^-^ but most of all I’d love a plushie either from the nightmare before Christmas, or Fruits basket.

3. I’m redoing my room, it’s painted and I got most of the furniture, but it lacks a bit of filling. I tried to find nice posters, or postcards to decorate the walls, but they are either not very pretty or quite expensive. Any posters and/or cards with a Fantasy or Manga theme you might have to spare would be put to very good use.

4. One of my bigger wishes is to find some new friends. I have Fibromyalgia, so I don’t get out of the house a lot and most of my friends are online. However I lost a lot of them lately and it’s very lonely to have hardly anyone to talk to. I’m a social person by nature, but at the same time I tend to have trouble with making the first contact. I rarely have the courage to just ‘walk up to someone’ and start talking, so to speak. Even here it’s hard for me to find someone to interact with; who I didn’t already knew before. New friends would be a great present for Christmas.

5. One of my interests is folklore, myths, legends… Now I love reading and collecting every book I can find about it, but it’s very hard to find many here in Belgium. I mostly prefer the English/Irish/Scottish folklore, but the ones from other countries are very interesting too.

6. I’m not always, what people call, a very girly girl. I don’t have the patience to wear make-up unless it’s a special occasion. I never wear dresses and only wear skirts when I can’t avoid it. (I don’t think I can pull off a skirt without looking horrible) Unlike my sister I only have two pairs of shoes (one for the winter, one for the summer, both very simple) and no desire to go out and buy more. (Even if I had the money for it) Yet there is one thing I just can’t seem to get enough off and it’s jewelry. Necklaces, bracelets, earring … all shapes and forms. I have real trouble not buying every pretty one I come across and if I had the money I might even do so.
I would be happy with any pretty piece of jewelry (although it’s not always that easy seeing as I have fairly large wrist and neck) I have always dreamt of a Celtic bracelet, one of those that don’t close up all the way around your wrist, but to find a nice one for a decent price isn’t easy. I’m also very fond of earrings.

7. I enjoy writing and even more so in pretty books. Think decorated diaries, notebooks… big or small.

8. I collect fantasy statues. Fairies, elves, dragons, pixies … I already got a little collection, but I still got some more space.

9. This isn’t one anyone can grant, but I’m wishing for it none the less. I wish that my health will improve some in the near future. Also I wish both my parents and myself might have a better year this time, seeing as the past few ones weren’t all that great.

10. And I wish that everyone, my friends, my family and everyone here will have great holidays. But I’m sure that this project is already a great step in the right direction.

The distance between two hearts is not an obstacle, rather a great reminder of how true love is...
